By comparison, many other apps, including Lightroom, save edits internally. The layers module has many uses, including compositing.Įdits made to raw files by On1 Photo 10 are always saved from the start in a separate file (JPEG, TIFF, or PSD). Even within a single layer you can get layer-like effects by stacking filters and by using masks and blending. This is where Photo 10 goes beyond Lightroom and invites comparison to Photoshop. For more aggressive edits like adding makeup, relighting or reshaping faces, you’ll need Photoshop or a dedicated app like Anthropics’ PortraitPro.įinally, there’s that special fourth module: Layers. For example, you can enhance detail in eyes without exacerbating wrinkles, or you can soften skin and remove blemishes without needing to make a careful mask that excludes eyes and mouth. The third editing module, Portrait, provides specialized tools for editing the elements of a face discretely. This is a “smart photo” PSD file, so the modules used in the top level are displayed as sub-layers that can be re-edited later. This image has three layers: the inactive unedited original portrait at the bottom above it, a simple backdrop layer and on top, the edited portrait, masked to allow the backdrop to appear. You can edit all the presets and/or build your own sophisticated renderings by selecting and stacking the filters that are the components of presets (e.g., Antique, Blur, Black & White, Dynamic Contrast, Sunshine, etc.) and every filter can be masked and/or blended as you like. But Photo 10 isn’t just a library of Instagram-style canned looks that you can slap on your images. You’ll get a quick start on your images by selecting a preset from the drawer on the left, which is organized by different types of shooting (e.g., Architecture, Weddings, Landscapes, Sports) and different styles (e.g., Black and White, Cinematic, Hipster, Urban). While Photo 10’s Enhance module is deliberately straightforward, its Effects module is rich in possibilities. Every filter can be masked using tools in the bumper on the left.Īt the heart of Photo 10 are three editing modules-Enhance, Effects, and Portrait-and a kind of sub-editing fourth module for creating and managing layers. ![]() In the Effects module (active here), you select presets and/or filters and stack them to get the result you want. The features that used to be found in Perfect Resize have been reassigned: resizing is now in a vastly improved export pane, and cropping is now found in the editing modules. But for at least some photographers willing to “think different,” the big news with this release is that On1 Photo 10 is ready to stand on its own as an alternative to both Lightroom and Photoshop. Yes, you can still use it as an adjunct for Lightroom or Photoshop if you do, you will welcome Photo 10’s improved speed and cooperation among the modules. Photo 10 is no longer a suite in name or design: It’s now a pretty well integrated app. On1 Photo 10-takes this plan to the next level. A couple of versions back, On1 began rolling these mini-apps into a Perfect Photo Suite that allowed users to access all the tools from a central dashboard independent of Lightroom or Aperture. Each tool was an independent, one-trick pony and appropriately named: Perfect Black and White, for example, or Perfect Portrait. For about a decade, On1’s photo editing tools have been marketed and used primarily as plug-ins for Adobe Lightroom, Apple Aperture, or Adobe Photoshop.

The circular system that really benefits the thumbsticks is a little more difficult to navigate with a mouse and keyboard. Days Gone director says game sold about as well as Tsushima, but management made it feel like a disappointment Days Gone sold rather well, but not enough for Sony, apparently. The game has a bit of a clunky feel to it movement-wise but that was the same on PlayStation and kind of adds to the suspense of certain situations. Days Gone, one of the best zombie shooters out there finally hit the Steam store and I am all for it! So how does it feel on the PC platform? Let’s find out! You and Boozer will set out to find the bike parts you need to repair it at a nearby garage.Earlier this year Sony let the world know they would bring some of their exclusive games to PC and here we have one of the big ones. There is some repetitiveness, but the world is so beautiful, gameplay is so fun, story is great, riding bike feels very good, and the overall atmosphere of the game makes me return to this game for a third time. Some of the inventory management stuff can be. Once you catch up, you’ll get what you need from him and leave―only to find your bike too damaged to drive. Days Gone reviewed by Lucy OBrien on PlayStation 4 Pro. Overall I enjoyed playing the game more than experiencing the story, but when i did play I always had a good time. From the dialogue, you get the impression the man hurt a friend, and there’s a bounty on his head. They’re riding down a road on their bikes, chasing someone. Days Gone offers a dangerous and desolate world full of bad. It's about establishing the relationships between these people and the desperate circumstances unfolding around them.Īfter a time jump forward to two years later, you’ll see how Deacon and Boozer operate in this new world. Days Gone is ranked in the 51st percentile of games scored on OpenCritic. You don’t actually see any zombies in this beginning sequence, or even much of the world. When Boozer refuses to board, Deacon stays behind to make sure he gets out of the city alive. When a helicopter lands nearby, they load Sarah onboard, but there's only room for two passengers. Even though the gameplay stays pretty much the same throughout the entire game, the acting, riding your motorcycle and the survival bits make this game worth while. Sarah has been stabbed, and with chaos breaking out as a deadly virus spreads through the city, the trio is desperate to find help. Days Gone is a blend of multiple open-world and zombie games. While not too in depth, the biome changes offer a refreshing range of visuals and challenges. Days Gone provides a good challenge and an interesting story, which should make PC users really happy about this port from PS4. It’s haphazard nature wouldn’t have survived on a smaller scale, but this is a substantial thing. Days Gone also has a variety of biomes which offer different conditions to drive and fight in. Days Gone’s world is very much greater than the sum of it parts. The first cutscene you’re shown involves three characters: the protagonist Deacon, his loyal friend Boozer, and Sarah, Deacon’s wife. The game is genuinely beautiful, being one of the better-looking games for the PlayStation 4- when the frame rate stays steady. Days Gone is a blend of multiple open-world and zombie games.
