![]() GPX is an XML format used for the exchange of GPS data (waypoints, routes and tracks) between applications (GPS) and web services on the Internet. You can keep the API Key safe and only use it yourself and then you should not see charges. GPX Editor is a GPX (GPS Exchange) format editor that makes use of the Google Maps API. Maps GPX This tool accepts a link to pre-made Google Directions and converts them to a GPX file. Note that after July 2018 to use Google Maps route planning in this way on GPS Visualizer you will need a free Google Maps API Key. The alternative is making a track by hand following the curvature of the road which is tedious on a long route. Using Google Maps for this step makes sure your route follows the road well. Just make sure your beginning and end points for the route segments match. Displays information about the number of routes, routepoints, waypoints and tracks, tracksegments. GPX Editor is a free Windows desktop application for splitting, joining and pruning of trackpoints, visualises tracks in Google Maps, simplifies tracks using various methods etc. ![]() If my route will have far more points than 10 then you can break the trip into multiple routes across several pages, then copy and paste each into GPS Visualizer. Florb is a really simple map viewer and GPX editor written in C++. From the options menu select the Download Classic My Map data or Export to KML option. Then I’ll copy the url at the top of the page for use in GPS Visualizer. Select the options button (three vertical dots) beside the Share button. Another way to see any of our gpx files on an Ordnance Survey map is to use a website called GPX Editor (also listed on our Useful Links page). For that reason I’ll use Google Maps to plan my route (with up to 10 destinations). An option to import the GPX file from your computer will present itself. Just under that layer, click the Import link. You can find this option in the menu on the left. Then, follow this up by clicking on Add Layer. For example if I want to make an overlanding trip map many of the roads will be on recognized roads, even if they are gravel. Click on it to pull up a new map that should be centered on your current location. gpx tracks I frequently use Google Maps to help make lines along established roads. No mapping conversation is complete without mentioning Google Maps.
